I first discovered the book Power Eating in 2001. I had forgotten that I used the book daily for about 2 years to plan my meals as I made my strength journey. I remember that I made some of my best non-drug progress when I was eating according to the Power eating plan.
I
discussed the protocols detailed in the book with Dr.
Dr. Kleiner talked about target caloric intake, the importance of carbohydrates and their impact on strength, and the fallacies of a low fat diet.
We discussed eating for strength for both men and women.
Modern diets are counter productive to strength gains and most athletes don't eat enough calories to make consistent gains.
Also discussed was proper nutrition and its role in manifesting a sense of well being that translates to mood and strength consistency.
With an ever increasing concern for aesthetics in powerlifters and strength athletes in general, bodybuilders can benefit from the Power Eating program as Dr. Kleiner has included modified meal plans to address aesthetics as well as the beginner/novice trainer.
Sections of the book cover supplements, herbs as well as specific food group choices. This is a very complete and well thought out book and worth the $17 it costs.
Dr. Kleiner warned that there are still copies of the second edition on book shelves and to be sure that you are buying the most current third edition. |
