Carl Lanore Offensive, Thoughtless And Sexist!?!?
| The Show |
Received this email from a female listener.. well.... past listener I guess.. I will address this on CASUAL FRIDAY which occurs on Thursday this week.
Carl,
I found your comments about Michelle Obama in relation to Rush Limbaugh's comments on his radio show to be offensive, thoughtless and sexist. You completely missed the boat.
Commenting on anyone's body that way is inappropriate, especially a female's. You said she's incredibly overweight, which is not true. Your subsequent arguments about the change in defining obesity were completely irrelevent and demonstrated your lack of substantive argument for making such a lewd comment about her weight.
A role model for our country's nutrition should not be scrutinized for her figure, but for her diet and for the information she provides to the general public. Healthy eating and physical training in the respect that you report on and engage in are not necessarily related. It's disgusting and ignorant that you would assume a healthy diet means a ripped bod.
I'm a long-time listener of your show and doubt I'll have any interest in your comments in the future.
My Reply:
XXXXXXX I can't help but think that your overly-sensitive response masks some other agenda. Michele Obama is an example of the "skinny-fat Nation" this country has become. I disagree with so many things you have sited here and submit that it is YOU who is devoid of the facts. I have no political agenda. Body fat IS an indication of the effectiveness of your nutrition. And anyone who positions themselves as a role model is completely open to scrutiny. I am not sexist. I make similar comments about male individuals in the public eye who hail themselves as nutritional gurus and completely miss the boat as you like to call it. I did not condemn Michelle Obama for her food choice and said that Rush missed the boat as it is HE who does not understand true nutrition- animal protein and fat is not the culprit but all the sugar in the BBQ sauce. At the same time Michelle Obama has no more place to present herself as a role model for proper nutrition than I do. And I believe wholeheartedly that I have a better understanding of the topic than she. Sorry you feel the need to leave the audience but you may want to listen to one last show on Thursday when I read and address your email.
Carl
Think she'll tune in?
