State Of The Union Address 2012: Did Obama Forget About Health Care?
So I stayed up late to watch the State of The Union address. I wanted to pick apart all of the promises and claims made about Health Care. Pad and pen
“OK here’s what I’ve been waiting for” I thought to myself. I readied my pen. President Obama spoke about how the Healthcare Program will rely upon private markets, not just Government programs. And then…. That’s it. That’s it!? There were only minutes left in the address, “surely President Obama plans on saving the most important subject for last”. I was wrong!
“How could this be?” I thought. Healthcare is the single greatest threat to our economic stability. Why was he not talking about the plan to fix this drain on our Nation?
President Obama pointed at plans to save money by cutting budgets in a variety of areas. When he spoke about shaving a half trillion dollars off the Defense Budget he was met with wild applause. The line item from the 2012 Budget shows the single greatest expense is the planned outlay to the Dept. of Health and Human Services. The Defense Budget line item is three down from the top. Regardless of the actual numbers, it stands to reason if President Obama made it a point to mention how he wants to trim back the Defense Budget, he would at least mention the Line Item that tops the list.
By the CDC’s own estimates, obesity - and its related chronic diseases like dementia, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc – will reach an all-time high of 50% of the American population by the year 2030. As President Obama is rallying the American people to think that we have the ability to pull ourselves out of this tail spin, the American people are becoming sicker, weaker and drained by Health Care costs.
The President made a point to harken back to World War II era challenges met by that population. But he neglects to recognize that at that time, our parents’ generation was healthier than we are today. How can you rally the troops if 50% of them are incapacitated and infirm? The President cited making it financially beneficial to move jobs back to America by dangling tax credits. But ask the small, medium or large business owner as to what poses the greatest economic challenge to them and they will tell you funding group health insurance plans.
President Obama promised last night that if we increase the exploitation of Natural Gas that he will protect our health by making companies responsible for the chemicals they use. Why should I believe this, when he made a campaign promise to force Big Agra to label Genetically Modified Foods during his first campaign for Change. He has never made a single move on keeping that promise.
Throughout the entire address President Obama kept chanting the mantra that “America is back”. The implication is that the American people are somehow ready to put their shoulder behind this wagon and push this great Country to a victory. What the president fails to recognize is that until the advances of avoidable chronic disease and failing health are addressed, half of the team will be in the wagon while the other half pushes.
The discussion must address the obvious reasons for the increase of chronic disease over the past one hundred years. The discussion must address the parasitic tendencies of the Medical Orthodoxy driven by the greed of the Pharmaceutical Agenda that has financially hobbled this Great Nation under the rising costs of “managing” avoidable diseases. Someone needs to step up and say the truth. The food we eat, that is also recommended and endorsed by the US Government, is at the root of disease.
Our Government has no business in our pantry. Is it any wonder the Food Pyramid, MyPlate and other mainstream diet promoters tell us to make the basis of our diet many of the grains and crops our Government subsidizes?
Paula Deen caught a lot of flak this week for embracing her Type 2 Diabetes, a completely reversible condition in 95% of those who suffer from it. She is happy to live with her condition by masking the symptoms with pharmaceutical drugs instead of reversing it with dietary changes. But she is just a microcosm of what is afoot here in this country.
I have to ask myself why President Obama said virtually nothing about the financial boulder around the neck of this Great Nation. Each time he invoked the sentiment of how great this Nation is I shouted at the television, “It’s we the people who make it great”. He has forgotten to address the most important factor in any team’s victory – protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of the players. #### Add new comment

Training Log Update
While I've been negligent about updating my training log.. I have not been missing my training. I have temporarily settled in to a 3 day training cycle that looks like this - Day 1: Whole Body Weight Training; Day 2: Cardio; Day 3: Rest. I will continue this approach until I feel that a body-part split routine is warranted. I'm going to keep the alternating days of cardio in the picture because I feel that my cario-vascular endurance is what has suffered the greatest from my inconsistent approach the past 2 years.

My nutrition has not been strictly clean yet either. Tighter than previously, but not as clean as I have been known to eat and, the way the also makes me feel the best. But I am making progress cleaning up my diet for sure.

Day 3 January 12th On the elliptical machine at 7:02. That's a new Record. I used to get in to my early cardio session at 5:30 in 2008. Something to shoot for.
I had a hard time not wanting to touch the weights this morning. I was trying to convince myself to shorten my cardio session and hit a body part. This is always my mistake. Not today. Cardio only.

January 13th OFF It's hard for me to take off even though I know its better. I feel like I should be doing something. I'm sticking to my training prescription! Off means off!
------------------------------------------ NOTE: I may have made a mistake in my calculations of Work Done in the past as I had only used the number of plates on one side of a Hammer machine when multiplying. for instance if I have 2X20 which means 2 45# plates times 20 reps.. this is 2 45# plates per side so the actual weight moved is not 90# but supposed to be 180# (90# per hand) so my calculations may show an unusually great amount of Work Done improvement. This is why.

Paula Deen, The Pied Piper Of Chronic Disease And Death
Paula Deen announced to the world that she has Type 2 Diabetes. I predicted this announcement last year on an episode of Super Human Radio where Deen teaches people, not how to cook, but how to develop chronic disease and a path to an early grave. The problem with all of this is that she, and her audience, will burden this country with the financial weight of their bad nutritional decision by burdening and already financially exhausted healthcare system. Obesity and the diseases associated with it are the single largest threat to our economic security. We will collapse under the weight of the health care system trying to care for all of the people out there who, like Deen, choose to get ill. That’s right, I said choose to get ill. Her followers who cook and eat according to her recommendations are causing their own illnesses just as sure as the person who decides to smoke and keep on smoking, will eventually develop diseases associate with tobacco use. I suggest the cooking channel where Deen does her show distance itself from the fallout by placing a Black Box Warning on the intro of Deen’s show. It could go like this “Eating foods depicted on this show will lead to obesity and chronic disease. This show is intended for entertainment purposes only. No one should eat this food on a regular basis or your health will suffer. Just ask Paula.” I also suggest Health Insurers add a screening question to their application – “Do you watch or have you watched Paula Deen’s cooking show in the past 12 months?” – A great risk assessment question. Ok, enough joking around, because this is really not a funny matter. Deen influences millions of people. Now for those of you who expected Deen to do a mea culpa and say she was going to change her direction.. shame on you. She can’t give up her niche. She has to stick to her guns and keep pushing the pro-inflammatory, inulinogenic, unhealthy stuff that has built her empire and her illness. Instead, as I predicted on my show, she will take Anti-Diabetic drugs so she live as a broken human being masking her symptoms. The fact that she has “teamed up” with Novo Nordisc so she can continue to “enjoy life” while managing her disease is one of the biggest examples of ignorance I have ever seen. Novo Nordisc has been looking for a spokesperson like Deen. This is a huge coop for them. But a huge step back for her entire impressionable uninformed audience who are following Deen to an early grave preceded by hours spent in doctor’s waiting rooms. She is the proverbial pied piper leading her flock right into the jaws of chronic disease. Shame on you Paula. Deene’s diseases will continue to mount while she “enjoys herself”. Complications due to her Diabetes will affect her blood pressure, heart, kidneys, cholesterol , inflammation, cognitive function, etc. Oh but not to worry as she will just add pharmaceutical drugs so she can continue to “enjoy life” and help multiple Pharmaceutical companies while making a big financial payday for herself. Deen has Type 2 Diabetes which can be completely reversed and cured in 6 months in 90% of cases. But she wouldn’t be able to eat the poison recipes she pushes now. Instead of taking the low road, Deen could have chosen to be a role model for millions of American’s I call the walking-dead. She could have used her culinary talents to find ways to create recipes that DON’T contribute to the development and progression of Type 2 Diabetes. She could have created a spin-off show that displays her beating her daemons through lifestyle changes like exercise, proper sleep and supplementation. She could have helped millions of American’s find the courage to cure themselves of this easily reversible illness. She would have gone down in history as a hero. Instead she will go done in history as the person who gave us the Deep-Fried-Doughnut-Hero that lead to the development of chronic disease in millions of her fans. As cited by Co-Host Alisa Profumo on today's Casual Friday episode, the FDA is about to allow the use of herbicide Agent Orange (2,4-D) which has been linked in numerous scientific studies to cause cancers, soft tissue Sarcomas and Lymph Node Cancers like Hotchkins Disease. If they are able to do this, you, your children and grand children will be exposed to Agent Orange through the produce in your local food stores.
Don't let this happen. A 60 day Public Comment period is in force NOW. Make your voice heard and your opinion known. Click the link below and let the FDA know that you DO NOT WANT AGENT ORANGE TO BE ALLOWED TO BE USED ON YOUR FOODS.

7:38am and I'm here!
Cardio. 30 mins first. Elliptical machine. Did 6 interval bursts of 30 seconds each and maintained a moderate pace the rest of the time. Broke a good sweat but not winded.
Day 2 light higher rep work for active recovery I used rest-pause as my workout technique today. The pause in my rest-pause routine was dictated by the time it took to enter my reps into my notes. Approximately 15 seconds real time. Early lactate buildup in my quads during the leg training phase may be telling me that a slight insulin resistance is occurring due to my past diet and lack of training intensity/consistency.
